    Webtionary – Dictionary of web terms 

    Thinkernet: Thinkers communicating in the Internet. Used as a noun. They have a voice to say something.
    Netizen: People whose virtual identities are real and real identities are virtual.
    Freemium: Selling premium things for free. People say that it is the only business model that can survive in the web. Example: Skype
    Blogosphere: Contrary to earth’s atmosphere, it is an internetospheric level inhabited by bloggers. However, due to over expansions of social media networks like FaceBook, and industries like “make money online” this layer is affected badly.
    Widget: It is like a pocket that people use in their blog sidebar. As you keep phonebooks in your pocket, bloggers keep facebook friends there.
    Tags: How do you define different parts of your body? Ooops – you just tag something as ‘hand’ ‘mouth’… you may even tag your friends with @friends-name
    Hyperlink: it is not like hyper tension. It is a link to another website or web page. But a link from RipOffReport may cause much tension.
    PDA: it is not public display of affection but a Personal Digital Assistant (often have a touch factor)
    KISS: This not an instruction to be performed by lips but an instruction to ‘Keep It Simple – Stupid’ or ‘Keep it Short & Simple’
    Google: though it is a brand name, it is commonly used as a synonym for “search”. E.G. yoo… just google it.
    Crawler: Spiders crawl net and crawlers crawl websites.
    Robot or ‘bot’ : It is not a machine that will do your day to day task. It is a few line of code that gets into your website and reads your data with / without your permission. or the term ‘bot’ might also mean a piece of code that works on its own logic automatically. E.g.: a Google talk bot, that replies automatically when talked to.
    nOOb: Someone who is not only an absolute newbie to something, but also makes fool of him/herself, acting without grasping the whole idea.
    Facepalm: If someone gives you that on the web, know for sure that you made a Boo Boo. :P
    Emoticon: Emoticon sounds like emotion? Yes it is is a set of keyboard characters that are combined to show a facial expression. :P
    FFA: This is not an organisation. It denotes “Free for all”. These are web pages that collect links to other websites.
    Hit Counter: Well this is not a list of musical chart-busters or number of hits you have taken on the face! In fact Hit Counter is a program that counts how many times a web page is loaded.
    TLD: Definitely this is not any new television channel. It means “Top Level Domain”. Examples of TLDs are .com, .net, .org, .edu, .gov.
    Archie: ‘Archie’ – singular for “Archies”? No. It refers to a computer program to locate files on public FTP servers.
    Newsgroup: This is not a group of news readers or a news house! It refers to online discussion group with a collection of articles and user-created posts relating to a particular topic.

      WOwww…Jus had in mind another amazing term: ChartJunk. ChartJunk refers to all those illustartive designs in charts and graphs. However this has nothing to do with information about the graphs/charts. It is just a visual bliss. Since it’s all “all non-data-ink or redundant data-ink”, its known as ChartJunk.
